The team at
Millersville Animal Hospital is dedicated to the prevention and
treatment of illnesses in companion animals through routine examinations
and vaccinations, diagnostics and surgery, when necessary. Our
doctors and staff strive to keep up with the latest treatments and
procedures to provide our patients with the best care possible.
Appointment Policy
Life-threatening emergency cases shall always receive top priority,
followed by previously scheduled appointments. To prevent a long
wait, be sure to schedule an appointment and arrive on-time.
Patient Arrival
For your safety, your pet's safety and the safety of others, we
require that all dogs be on a leash and properly controlled while in our
hospital and that all cats be in a carrier or a secure harness.
Our worst nightmare is a cat being carried into our facility, panicking
over a loud dog, jumping out of the owner's arms and slipping out the
front door!
Drop-Off for
Surgeries, Dentals and Other Procedures
Most procedures
requiring general anesthesia are scheduled on Tuesday, Wednesday and
Thursday. Pets receiving anesthesia should not be allowed access
to food or water after 9 pm the night before their procedure.
Drop-Off times are from 7:30 am to 8:00 am. Let our staff know if
this time is impossible for you and we will discuss alternatives.
Pre-Surgical
Requirements
We require that all pets being admitted to our
hospital be up-to-date on their appropriate Rabies and Distemper (DHLPP
for dogs, FVRCP for cats) vaccines. All cats must also have been
tested for the Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency (FIV)
viruses. If your pet is found to have fleas and/or ticks while in
the hospital, he or she will be treated for the parasite(s) at your
expense.
Fees and Payments
We feel our fees are competitive, appropriate and fair. You
will be provided an itemized estimate of the services that our
veterinarians believe are in you pets' best interest. You are
invited to discuss any questions you have concerning the estimate with
our staff at any time. Payment is expected a the time that
services are rendered. We accept cash, personal checks, Visa,
MasterCard and Discover. Sorry, we do not take American Express.
We can also help with any paperwork you may have regarding Pet Insurance
billing.
Euthanasia
Often the most difficult decision an owner can make, we aim to make
this final act of care as easy on the pet and family as possible.
To that effect, a physical examination and consultation are required
prior to any euthanasia, especially for pets that have never visited our
hospital. We reserve the right to decline to euthanize a healthy
pet that is potentially adoptable. Please see our
Resources page for information on local
humane societies, shelters and rescue organizations.
